Your first trimester as a newly pregnant mom is the most emotionally conflicting time of your life. Sandwiched between the excitement of a little one and the overwhelming anxiety of early pregnancy lies the not-so-great symptoms. Nausea, back pain, and cramps seem to plague every pregnant woman and if you happen to be one of the lucky ones we all hate you. Just kidding. Those were preggo hormones riling up (as they do).
I bought countless novelty items claiming to cure every sort of pregnancy complaint with rarely any successes. In doing so, however, I stumbled across some absolute GEMS which changed the course of my pregnant day and allowed me to feel like a whole person again. What’s even better, all of these can be found on Amazon since we all know you’d much rather snap up on that two day shipping than actually -gasp- leave the house. Alright enough talk here are my first trimester tried and true faves:
Ok so I didn’t actually find this product until the very end of my first trimester so sad for me BUT these babies are magical. They use the pressure points on your wrist (how that works is beyond me) in order to stop your nausea??? See what I mean, magic clearly. I use these primarily for car rides because I got motion sick very very easily at the beginning and let me tell you, worked like a charm. The best way to use them is to put it on before times you know you get nauseated not wait until you are nauseated. Get them here for $9.99.
Preggie Pop Drops
While it is great to know ahead of time when you are going to be nauseated, pregnancy is most definitely not always so kind. Part of the beauty of morning sickness is having one day of none and assuming it’s gone forever and you have been freed!!!! Not. I had been prescribed some anti-nausea medication for my woes but I used those as a last last last resort as I tried my hardest to have a medication-free pregnancy. These drops are similar to cough drops in mouth-feel but have ginger in them and taste like jolly ranchers-so good. They are a great quick fix for nausea that comes on unexpectedly. They also come in a nice little round container that’s perfect to fit in a purse or diaper bag, get them here for $4.48.
This soft heated blanket
You guys. This blanket. THIS BLANKET. The one I am currently using as I type this. While some women may be blessed with a stress free pregnancy, I am an anxiety-ridden person meaning I spent many days of my first trimester freaking out about every little drop of blood or ache. I would call my OBGYN only to hear the typical “calm down and wait it out this is not a big deal right now”. Which was exactly true and everything was entirely okay. There was no better way to distract myself from those pressing fears than snuggling under this warm blanket and watching Netflix on the couch with some hot tea. It is literally as soft as a rabbit (not made from one obv) but wowwwwww I could go on and on, the point is: if you worry, use this blanket it feels like a warm hug from nature herself.
The Pregnancy Journal
This journal is a wonderful resource to have ESPECIALLY if you are super busy like me. It gives day-to-day summaries highlighting what is developing in your baby and gives you little areas to write and illustrate milestones. Recommended to me by my hairdresser and you know those ladies know everything about anything. Enough credibility there right? Purchase here for $13.26.
Yoga Starter Kit
Yoga is wonderful for every sort of pregnancy pain. I mean every single one I truly believe can be fixed through some good stretching. I am on a budget (yay me) so going to a studio was entirely out of the question, however a quick search on YouTube can pull up countless incredible sessions of yoga specific to each trimester. Really the only things you need are a mat and block. Ta-da! Super cheap and easy to come by! May I also add that yoga did wonders for my anxiety by implementing breathing techniques for focusing. Helpful stuff. You can purchase a whole set including a starter DVD for $27.64 here.
So there you have it! The absolute best products for the first trimester as told by an honest girl who has no affiliation with these people whatsoever. This is my first ever blog post- very proud, still getting the hang of things – so I would really appreciate if you let me know what you think, share on Pinterest, yada yada yada. Even if you don’t do those things I still love you, dear stranger.
Until next time,
